Airport turns into chaos over a breakup gone wrong
A Florida airport turned into a scene of chaos and disbelief when a woman was arrested for choking her ex-girlfriend in a fit of jealousy after spotting her with another woman at the gate.
The shocking altercation unfolded at Orlando International Airport around 5:30 p.m., where dozens of passengers waiting to board watched the scene spiral out of control. According to police, 29-year-old Brianna Lewis approached her ex, Kayla Morris, who was preparing to board a flight to Chicago — and what started as an argument quickly escalated into violence.
“She just snapped,” said one witness, Amanda Reyes, who was sitting nearby. “You could see the anger on her face. She screamed, ‘You replaced me already?’ — and then she lunged.”
“She wrapped her hands around her neck and wouldn’t let go”
According to the arrest report, Lewis grabbed Morris by the throat and forced her to the ground, choking her while screaming that she had been “betrayed.”
Other travelers rushed to help as terrified children cried and airline staff yelled for security.
“I’ve never seen anything like that in an airport,” said Reyes. “She had her hands tight around that girl’s neck — she wouldn’t let go until two guys pulled her off.”
Airport police and TSA officers tackled Lewis seconds later. Both women were treated by medics at the scene; Morris suffered bruising but refused hospital treatment.
The motive: heartbreak and obsession
Investigators said the pair had dated for nearly three years before breaking up in April. Lewis allegedly discovered through social media that Morris had moved on — and decided to confront her in person before she left town.
“She drove all the way to the airport,” said Officer Daniel McKinney of the Orlando Police Department. “This wasn’t a random incident. She came there to start a confrontation.”
Lewis reportedly told police, “I lost control. I couldn’t let her just walk away with someone else.”
The arrest and charges
Lewis was booked into the Orange County Jail and charged with domestic battery by strangulation, a felony that could carry up to five years in prison.
A spokesperson for Orlando International said the situation was contained within minutes but acknowledged how traumatic it was for onlookers. “Airports are emotional places,” the spokesperson said. “But violence like this is never acceptable.”
Social media reacts
Footage of the incident quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter), with the caption “Love hurts — especially at Gate 32.” The clip has been viewed over 6 million times.
Comments ranged from shock to disbelief:
“You don’t expect to see WWE moves before boarding a flight.”
“Heartbreak is real, but this ain’t the way.”
Moving forward
Police say Morris declined to press additional charges but wants a restraining order filed before her ex is released.
As one officer put it, “Sometimes love turns into something darker — and if you can’t walk away, you end up in handcuffs.”
