In a heart-wrenching scene that left the entire courtroom silent, a mother broke down in tears while confronting the man convicted of killing her teenage daughter.
The victim, 16-year-old Emily Sanders, was brutally murdered last year in Phoenix, Arizona, and the case captured national attention due to its senseless violence. On Tuesday, her mother, Linda Sanders, faced the defendant, 22-year-old Derek Thompson, during his sentencing hearing.

Thompson, a neighbor of the Sanders family, lured Emily into a vacant lot under the guise of giving her a ride home from school. Police say he attacked her and left her for dead, sparking a city-wide search before she was tragically found hours later.
