In one of the most heartbreaking child abuse cases in recent years, a 17-month-old girl lost her life at the hands of the very people who were supposed to protect her.
Police say the baby suffered months of neglect and violence before her death. Neighbors told reporters they often heard crying but “never imagined it was that bad.”
When paramedics arrived, the child was unresponsive. The adoptive parents claimed it was an accident — but medical evidence revealed signs of long-term abuse.
